Storytelling:
the new generation
It’s live entertainment – it's storytelling - but not as you know it…
This Performance Artist's repertoire is packed with modern and new, original stories plus folktales and legends from around the world. Karen-Eve Bayne has returned to her roots in western NC after 15 years abroad.
During the last six years she's enchanted audiences from 10 to 3000 across the UK and continental Europe. Now she hails from Hendersonville near Asheville, NC.
Karen-Eve’s style of performance sweeps audiences away with the magic of voice, gesture and word. Always prepared, yet nothing is scripted or read out. No story ever sounds the same twice. This is live, hot-off-the-tongue improvisation!
Show themes are tailored to the event, audience, season and location. Tales range from wise-cracking New York ghosts to magical romance, from love strangled by technology to historical tales told with spirit and style.
Discover why people needs tales, how to find ginseng, the secret of the Green River Watershed or what is a death crown. Karen-Eve weaves in local detail and audience responses, interacting with audiences in a refreshingly relaxed manner. No theatrical ‘fourth wall’ here…
This former Park Ranger, Congressional Staffer, International business exec, and General Manager of the London Philharmonic Orchestra turned raconteur has a breadth of knowledge and experience that lights up her performances with freshness and fun. Audiences of all ages are spellbound. Karen-Eve is an educationalist at heart, a sociologist by training, with the soul of a storyteller and performer.

Biography
Karen-Eve Bayne is one of North Carolina’s talented natives. She was raised in the Green River Section of Henderson County. She always loved words and reading and education. Like author Robert Morgan, Karen-Eve would anxiously await the Library Book Mobile for her summer reading down in Green River.
She attended UNCA majoring in Sociology and French. Then she entered into a colorful career as a park ranger, capital Hill Aid, and then as an international business executive working in London and around the world for over 15 years. She attended International Business School at INSEAD at Fontainebleu, France, and later studied Theology at Trinity College, UK.
As General Manager of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the mid 90s, Karen-Eve reconnected with her love of music, the arts and most of all words.
This led her to take a career break from corporate life to get an MA in Theological Studies at Trinity College in the UK, and then to retrain in acting and storytelling.
In 1999 Karen-Eve co-founded the Midnight Storytellers with fellow raconteur Chloë. They appeared together and separately in the UK and Europe for over 6 years.
Karen-Eve returned to NC in 2006 to be closer to her roots. She now performs in schools, museums, restaurants and at private functions as well as teaching classes using story and metaphor as the springboard to learning. She is a popular guest speaker and business trainer.
She has always kept her love of language and believes storytelling is intelligent entertainment as well as an important American/Appalachian tradition. She lives in Hendersonville NC, near Asheville - where she finds stories all around her.
