The Midnight Storytellers 10th Anniversary

‘Not Mad or Dead’ Tour

“And if you spend the night where the story happened, next morning you’ll wake up mad – or dead – or a storyteller!”
– Traditional story ending

Introducing my revolutionary touring show...

'Electric Tales'
- Chloë the rebel reconteur presents traditional tales from around the world alongside new and original stories. Everything from gothic horror in Venice to UFOs in the English countryside. A dramatic, fast paced and enthralling one woman show.

► Featuring a textile art backdrop screen specially created by young artist Charlotte Fothergill. Her visual interpretations of Electric Tales across the 3 panel screen are directly influencing the way I tell some of these stories; genuinely sparking fresh ideas in performance.

'What's it all about, Chloë?'

Entertainment. The final frontier of performance storytelling. This is the voyage of a high energy raconteur to find space for her own style of vivid verbal jazz. Rooted in respect for the world heritage of myth, legend and folktale. Evolving the next generation of legends for our future.

Booking now for 2010 and beyond. Available with workshops for families and for adults

Sponsorship opportunities available - link YOUR NAME or corporate identity with creative innovation and intelligent entertainment

Press release October 2009: 'If you thought storytellers were limited to genteel libraries and toddlers’ groups, Chloë of the Midnight Storytellers explodes the mould. She specialises in entertaining audiences of adults. Her brag list includes 5 millionaires at a birthday dinner, wedding revellers in some of Britain's most exclusive venues and near 5,000 for the mellow-out section of an arena concert.

For 10 years Chloë has pioneered Story Cabaret throughout the UK. Probably everything you don't expect a storyteller to be, she appears in designer frocks and shedloads of bling. She mixes traditional storytelling (myths, legends, folktales) with stand-up comedy – she can’t help it!

'Her lively style and sparkling rapport with audiences have taken her to an extraordinary range of venues, from Cheltenham Literature Festival near her home in the Cotswolds, to posh hotels, private parties, restaurants, castles and conferences. She spellbinds fringe and arts festival audiences. Recently she’s developed performances for the cruise ship market, featuring myths and legends linked to every port of call.

'As it happens, Chloë is hugely popular with young audiences. Silver dancing drum, singing bowl and thunder lizard to hand, she spellbinds whole families with colourful outfits and hilarious yet morally strong tales from many cultures around the world.
'But of course she looks for the different angle – developing mixed artform workshops such as ‘A Word in Your Eye: Stories to Start Art’.
'For ‘Danger! Here Be Dragons!’ there’s her persona of Ms Green the Draconics Expert from GCHQ (or possibly MI5), from the department so secret that even GCHQ don’t know it exists… Complete with leather dragonproof cloak and diamond studded shades, ‘Ms Green’ lectures older children and teens about dragon tracking and combat, plus veterinary care and feeding. Dragon ‘facts’ are compared with real human science.
'Chloë also organises S-Factor Story Slam Galas for junior and secondary schools, in which student storytelling workshops lead to exciting competitions performed to audiences of family and friends. Bringing the razzamatazz of tv talent shows to the development of key skills such as listening and speaking, and firing up the love of language and literature.'
