'A Child's World of Story'

With her singing bowl, dancing drum and colourful outfits, Chloë captivates young audiences.
   In this
multi cultural parade of characters and adventures from around the world, audience participation is essential - they do the special effects!

Chloë brings you unlikely heroes and bold heroines. Go adventuring with dragons, cats and surprisingly likeable rats. Discover daft and devious monkeys, good and evil kings - and a horribly clever mosquito. Help make the world's biggest frog laugh, so we can get our water back! And perhaps Donkey (not that one!) can win X Factor!

The enchanting mix includes tales from British/European, Native American, Australian aboriginal, Asian, Maori, Middle Eastern and Oriental traditions.

Benefits
*  Children involved in storytelling build vocabulary and associated skills that facilitate literacy. Sessions include WordTreasures vocabulary lists and Q+A.
*  Stories help children become aware of a wider world with other beliefs and ways of living.
*  Stories develop imagination, thinking skills and emotional literacy. Story themes include courage, justice, clear thinking; empathy, sharing, helping, kindness.
*  Reinforcement of messages about Stranger Danger and Bullying.

Secondary Schools - Sixth Form Colleges
* Older KS2, KS 3 - GCSE, AS / Years 7 - Sixth Form

Chloë aims to model excellence: in everything from performance skills to personal appearance!

Her style is offbeat, fast paced and original. She has a lively sense of humour and good rapport with students - and she demands the highest standards of mutual respect, self discipline and focus.

Chloë's multi cultural repertoire supplies an engaging yet down-to-earth mix of stories.
The fictional world of stories naturally touches on sensitive matters of bullying, self esteem and relationships. Students can find reassurance in such tales - also an opportunity to safely express challenging views/difficult subjects.

PERFORMANCE will include Q+A. Stories themed as you require.

WORKSHOP : TRY STORYTELLING : performance tips plus how to construct spoken word narrative; how to use the English language powerfully. The essential skills of storytelling - and public speaking!
In rehearsal, Chloë turns into a kindlier version of Simon Cowell... She demands energy and concentration; she helps young performers find their confidence and step up to their moment in the spotlight.

Benefits
Hearing and telling stories directly supports work in
English - speaking, listening; imagination + creative expression; narrative structures; shape + express ideas, feelings; reflect other people's experiences; awareness of standard/non-standard written/spoken English; awareness of changes to English; awareness of devising (scripting) + performing; improvisation; individual + group collaboration
Drama - Key skills in voice and stagecraft; improvisation, interpretation; presence; research, preparation and self direction of performance; adapting performance for radio, film/video [collaborate with ICT]

STORYTELLING also supports thinking skills, social and emotional aspects of learning, and a very wide range of life skills.

Chloë's creative quest (2012)

I AM SEEKING OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE IN CROSS CURRICULUM PROJECTS eg:
Art & Design - Editing and layout of stories with illustrations + Graphic Novel form.
Information & Communication Technology - Recording and transmitting stories: PodCasts, Video, Animation; collaborate with Drama students.
Modern Foreign Languages - I speak reasonable French (formerly to degree standard) and retain some German, both with good accents. I would like to explore the creative challenge of delivering traditional tales at least partly in their original language.
Geography + History - Stories help spark the curiosity and imagination that support progress in these subjects. I'd like to run a project that uses fact to inform fiction, so that students think in detail about other ages, places and lifestyles.
